Dana Reckard

Dana Reckard- Cedarburg, Wisconsin- is a horn player, teacher, and arts administrator currently based in Wisconsin. She is a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music, earning her degree with high honors. Her primary mentors at IU were Richard Seraphinoff, Dale Clevenger, Wayne Wallace, and Rodney Dorsey.

In addition to AIMS Graz, Dana will be attending the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix International Music Festival in Canada this summer. In 2019, Dana studied with Jacques Deleplancque and his horn studio at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Paris. She also completed an advanced language immersion seminar while in France as a part of her French minor. Past summer festival acceptances- all deferred due to COVID-19- include Berlin Opera Academy, Miami Classical Music Festival, and Prague Summer Nights.

Dana currently serves as the Associate Program Coordinator for Andrew and Rupal Bain’s Invested Musician program, assisting in program operations, writing curriculum, and fostering community engagement with their virtual musician audience. In addition to classwork, Dana has served as a Jacobs tour guide and as a Jacobs assistant orchestral manager.

Dana recently completed a lecture recital on the development of horn repertoire within the band music genre, interviewing several premier military band conductors as a part of the process. Throughout her undergrad, Dana performed engagements with the Bloomington Chamber Singers, New Voices Opera, among others. She was an active member of the IU natural horn studio. Dana has also studied jazz horn, and she has performed with the Jacobs Latin Jazz Ensemble.

Aside from music, Dana enjoys quilting, collecting refrigerator magnets, and biking.
